Kingwood Youth Lacrosse
Little Sticks Program
(1-3 Grade)
Overview
The Little Sticks Program is a developmental league with the
primary purpose of introducing children to the sport of
lacrosse.
The emphasis will be on stick skills, team work,
sportsmanship and having fun. All boys and girls in first
thru third grades are welcome to participate. We have
established a set of Rules and Waivers (with input from US
Lacrosse and in coordination with North Texas Youth Lacrosse
League) for this program. Since this is a pilot program, the
format for practices and games will be flexible within this
framework to ensure everyone receives equal instruction and
equal playing time. Currently, we plan to meet twice a week;
practice/ scrimmage on weekdays and games on the weekend.
The schedule will be established once we determine the
number of players/ teams.
A secondary
goal is to involve the parents by teaching them the game as
we teach the players. Most of our parents have limited, if
any, knowledge of this sport. We want overwhelming parent
participation and this is a great opportunity to draw
families into the KYL program. The coaches will be US
Lacrosse Level I certified.
